ARFPA 2021 Festival

Spring 2021

February 11, 2021: Registration officially closed
Showcase Concert: TBA

Next Steps:

February 12 – March 14, 2021

Now that you are registered, here are the next steps for you to complete:

  • Practice, Practice, Practice! We wish you all the best as you perfect your talents and continue to learn with your teachers.
  • If you don't already have a plan for your video recording of your entry(s), now is the time to speak with your teacher and/or parents. You are responsible to video record each performance.
    • You will need to create a personal YouTube page. Your videos need to be uploaded to your personal YouTube page and then at the right time, you will be requested to copy and paste the link to your video entry(s) into the Music Festival Suite registration system. Here is a tutorial on how to upload videos when the time comes:

March 15 – 17, 2021

  • Upload your entries!
All video entries must be uploaded to YouTube. You will then need to copy and paste the YouTube link into Music Festival Suite through your user login. You will not be able to upload your videos until March 15, 2021.

March 20 – 27, 2021

  • Adjudication!
Our adjudicators will have a week to watch all entries within their assigned discipline. Adjudicators will adjudicate class by class and in some cases, combine classes. The adjudicators will make notes that will be supplied to entrants, they will award certificates, and they will upload videos with their workshop/masterclass commentary. Entrants will be able to watch these videos as soon as they are uploaded.

March 31 – April 12, 2021

  • All certificates, adjudicator notes and Local and Provincial Scholarships will be awarded and presented to entrants through the entrants' teachers.

Dear Performers, Parents, Teachers, and Friends of the ARFPA,

On behalf of the board of directors for ARFPA, we are pleased to inform you that our 2021 Festival is currently in the works!

After much discussion and debate, we have decided to plan our 2021 Festival as a Virtual Festival.

Our goal and mission as a Festival organization is to plan a live, in-person festival. This is the best format for our learning-focused Festival. However, due to the unknown factors of a pandemic that is still impacting our lives, the 2nd best option is to plan for a Virtual Festival.

We hope that you will all be patient and kind as we work through all the details of planning this virtual event. There are still many unknowns that we are working to figure out. We will do our best to communicate as much as possible to ease the process for all involved.

For now, please mark your calendars:

  • February 11, 2021: Registration is now closed.

  • The registration process and scheduling of classes for the Festival will remain unchanged.
  • The biggest difference will be submitting a video of your performance through our registration system.
    • We urge you to create a YouTube channel and start watching some tutorials on how to make a great video to be uploaded to YouTube. There are so many great resources for this on YouTube! Start practising that now and you will be a step ahead when it comes time to submitting your entries.

We look forward to hearing and watching all of your performances. And yes, there will be a way for our adjudicators to workshop with each class. And all participants will have an opportunity to watch each other and hear the comments from the adjudicator.

Kind regards,

Jennifer Harbour

Congratulations to the 2019 Scholarship winners!

Welcome! to the Airdrie Rotary Festival of Performing Arts website. Our Festival serves musicians and performers in the Rockyview County in the following disciplines: Piano, Vocal, Musical Theatre, Choral, Band, Strings and Speech Arts. Our goal is to help participants learn through performing and receiving feedback in a non-competitive environment. [more about the Festival]

We continue to be supported by the Rotary Club as well as corporate and private sponsors from the community. We appreciate the generous support from everyone who has contributed. If you wish contribute to our Festival, we always welcome donations. Please see sponsorships for more details.

Our yearly Benefit Concert provides provincial candidates an essential performance opportunity before going to Provincials (Alberta Music Festival Association).  Those who have participated at Provincials have expressed appreciation for the experience to attend and witness the calibre of performances at the provincial level.

Our Festival Board works hard to organize the festival each year. We appreciate all their efforts and also those who volunteer to help make this event happen. If you would like to volunteer and be a part of this growing Festival, please contact Bob Rodgers

At the Fall 2018 AMFA AGM, the AMFA and its member festivals voted to withdraw our membership from the Federation of Canadian Music Festivals (FCMF). View the letter of explanation from AMFA.
