President’s Message

Nadine Low
President
We are excited to hold our Second Annual Airdrie Rotary Festival of Performing Arts. Our inaugural year was very successful and well-received by the community. We had 221 entries with 607 participants who performed to over 1,200 audience members at the Festival.
The Festival will continue to serve musicians in Rocky View county. This year, in addition to Junior Piano, Voice, Musical Theatre and Choir, we will add Senior Piano, Strings, Band Instruments and Ensembles. Our focus will be on learning and teaching in a non-competitive environment.
On May 27, 2012 the Airdrie Rotary Festival of Performing Arts was accepted into the Alberta Music Festival Association. This means that in 2013, participants will be eligible to compete at the Provincial Music Festival in Edmonton. Sending participants to Provincials is a great opportunity for music students from the Rocky View District to witness the caliber of students from 36 other festivals throughout the province.
Sending festival participants to Provincials requires additional resources. Financial support from the community helps to cover affiliation fees and operating costs. If you wish to be a part of this new festival we would appreciate donations. Please see sponsorships for more details. Many thanks to those companies and individuals who have already contributed. A special thanks to our Festival sponsor, the Rotary Club of Airdrie.
We have also been granted official Charitable Status from Revenue Canada, so all personal donations are now tax deductible.
The Airdrie Rotary Festival will require many volunteers. If
you would like to be involved in this exciting endeavour please contact Bob Rodgers
[403-948-7242].
We look forward to welcoming even more performers to the Airdrie Rotary Festival of Performing Arts this year.
