Rotary Club of Airdrie

The Airdrie Rotary Festival of Performing Arts
Presented by the Polaris Centre for the Performing Arts
March 16 – 27, 2020

Dear Performers, Parents, Teachers, and Friends of the ARFPA,

On behalf of the board of governors of the ARFPA, it is with regret that I inform you that as a result of the closure of all Alberta schools by Alberta Health, the board of directors has made the difficult decision to cancel the Airdrie Rotary Festival of the Performing Arts for 2020.

Although the festival will not start tomorrow, it is far from finished. The love and celebration of music and the arts is not dependent on any one festival or any single performance. Our students have put in hours of work to be ready for this week, to prepare to mount the stage and embrace both the fear and the jubilation of performing. Though the stage will need to wait for another time, those hours are not less meaningful, the lessons no less challenging, and the music not less beautiful for being played at home. We know that you all will keep the passion for music and the arts alive in your hearts and homes. We will see you all again; the stage is not going anywhere.

I would like to thank all of our volunteers, our volunteer board, our Festival Coordinator Jen Harbour, and the ARFPA president Linda Bruce for your efforts, leadership, and support of the festival both in the past and moving forward. There is much labour ahead of us and I am looking forward to continued work with this board and this festival. it is a privilege to serve with all of you: The festival will continue and the music will sound again.

 Yours in the arts,

Robert Rodgers

Welcome! to the Airdrie Rotary Festival of Performing Arts website. Our Festival serves musicians and performers in the Rockyview County in the following disciplines: Piano, Vocal, Musical Theatre, Choral, Band, Strings and Speech Arts. Our goal is to help participants learn through performing and receiving feedback in a non-competitive environment. [more about the Festival]

We continue to be supported by the Rotary Club as well as corporate and private sponsors from the community. We appreciate the generous support from everyone who has contributed. If you wish contribute to our Festival, we always welcome donations. Please see sponsorships for more details.

Our yearly Benefit Concert provides provincial candidates an essential performance opportunity before going to Provincials (Alberta Music Festival Association).  Those who have participated at Provincials have expressed appreciation for the experience to attend and witness the calibre of performances at the provincial level.

Our Festival Board works hard to organize the festival each year. We appreciate all their efforts and also those who volunteer to help make this event happen. If you would like to volunteer and be a part of this growing Festival, please contact Bob Rodgers

At the Fall 2018 AMFA AGM, the AMFA and its member festivals voted to withdraw our membership from the Federation of Canadian Music Festivals (FCMF). View the letter of explanation from AMFA.
